Hi
unfortunately, as you probably know, new builds are well known for filling the sub soil under a lawn with bricks and debris. Hopefully, they have laid a good quantity of top soil to benefit the grass and help it grow. It's not the end of the world senario, some lawm maintenace possisbly depending on its existing condition. It it getting waterlogged, full of weeds, including moss. If not, then apply a good lawn feed now and see how it responds. If it's a positve green up, then look at creating boarders dependant on the size of your lawn. That where the hard work starts as you will possibly be removing a lot of builders debrie from the boarder areas you create. Remove as many as you can and then throw horse manure, mushroom compost to general boost the soil prior to planting
There's hardly any top soil when I took some turf up its really thin I was tempted to rip it all up
Hi
That a bit of a problem as if they have not laid sufficient top soil then the lawn will not have enought nutrients to survive. You will need a minImum of 100mm deep (4") of top soil. I would suggest contacting the builders of your house and explain the problem they have created with the lawn.
The lawn will need to be completely replaced to stand any chance of getting the lawn you want If this is the case
