Smoke Bush pruning

Having pruned my Smoke Bush as advised in the Feb/March Gardeners World magazine. I have cut all the nobbly top off to 3' from ground. No shoots have appeared yet . Have I killed it ? image

    early days yet. Don't panic.  Shoots should appear on Cotinus, even from the oldest wood. Look for tiny red buds .

    I found they throw up really long shoots after a hard prune, with larger than normal leaves.

    Am I too late to prune mine?  It's been about a foot for 3 years.

    May lane, I'd say you've got plenty of time. It's still only the first week of April. 

    Hurrah for the little red buds romahev. It'll have lots more soon .
