Bird behaviour

I have Jays nesting on my roof but we also get visits from seagulls this morning one of the gulls was pecking at something on the grass I chased it away and went to look it was a baby bird I them discovered another one nearby I think the gulls have had an eye on the Jays nest and taken the chicks out to take it over for themselves I know nothing about bird behaviour but I know that many of you on this forum have more knowledge could this be possibles? Many thanks

Seagulls will eat birds both young and old. Jays in turn will also do the same. Part of life's rich tapestry.

I doubt they want the nest, just the food.
