My Rozanne

SammymummySammymummy Posts: 202

Good morning everyone!

I had a beautiful Geranium Rozanne in the sunny border in my garden which flowered well last summer. But it has not yet shown up this year. I really like it so am willing to buy another to replace, but what do you think I did wrong? My soil is clay but I mixed in a lot of organic matters.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Good Morning Sammymummy. I have 3 Rozannes in different parts of my garden and only the one in my sunny border has just appeared. I live in Cornwall but I understand that Rozanne usually appears after mid April. I am sure it is still there somewhere as it was the plant of the century so should be reliable. They are lovely.

I noticed the same. I have 2 and only the one in full sun has appeared. Hope the other one wakes up soon.

    Hi Kaymay, jaffacakes

Thank you for your post.  I was about to order a replacement but will wait a few more weeks. All perennials in my garden seem so eager to put on a show by now so I was worried that I had killed Rozanne.  Hope you have a nice day in the garden today as it's expected to be warm and sunny image

I was like that with my Rozannes for the last couple of years.

I had border work done last summer and I am now filling the bordered beds with more soil. I have had to raise the Rozannes up on the new soil but I think they will survive this. They are pretty hardy.

There is already 2 cubic mtr bags in the biggest raised bed.  I found a friend whose gardener agreed to clear out the existing perennials and added 2more cu mtrs of soil.

These two people are keen gardeners and see this as a sideline. They really know what they are doing. They know what they are doing gave us 3hrs one Sunday morning in March and transformed a very sad looking hole into a splendid raised bed of perennials.

Last year was the first time mine had over wintered, they were new plants the summer before, this great they have come back stronger and earlier, not sure if its the conditions or the plant is settled in now image

I am tempted to move one of mine into a 2 foot high grey slate effect pot. What do you think?
