Dianthus plants looking poorly
My Gran's Favourite dianthus plants, new last year, have lots of scruffy white leaves although there are plenty of new healthy looking shoots along the stems. What is to be done, apart from snipping off all the dead leaves? Do they need feeding?

I guess everyone is so busy gardening in this lovely weather that they haven't the time to check into the forum. Well I can't say I blame them!
Hi H'cottontail - no gorgeous weather here, but I've been outside nonetheless!
You often get scraggy looking bits on dianthus at the end of the winter, but usually they can be snipped off. New foliage comes through and they look fresh again. I've just done mine - dead flower stems or bits that haven't produced buds have been trimmed off. I'm assuming that's what you mean though?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you Fairygirl, that's exactly what I meant - I'll give them a trim tomorrow. Thanks also to Philippa for the advice on cuttings.
