Moving a Daphne

a.sa.s Posts: 1

I know Daphne's hate being moved but I have absolutely no choice in the matter so the question is, am I going to lose it?

It's a healthy 2' high approx plant that was originally a cutting my mum took from hers and I really don't want to lose it.

Apparently they are deep rooted but if I made sure I lifted it with great care and the same size rootball image do I have any chance do you think of it surviving?

  • I was given a small Daphne bholua (about 80cm) that sulked for 4 years, hardly putting on any growth at all. I moved it about a metre and in the first year there were lots of 10cm long shoots. This year it's already on the move.

Maybe it was the handful of lime in the watering I used to water it in.

I moved a much loved Daphne when I moved house. It didn't seem to notice and is only beginning to look a bit past it now, nearly 30 years later.
