Nasturtiums and marigolds – companions
Good morning gardeners. This year I am growing runner beans, courgettes, kale, french beans, globe artichokes and peas in raised beds along with some fruit bushes (blackcurrant, raspberries and strawberries).
I am also growing some marigolds and nasturtiums as I heard that these are good to grow among these crops, but yesterday was warned by someone that this is NOT a good idea as they will attract blackfly to crops. Please can someone clarify? I was thinking of dotting the nasturtiums through the runner beans and letting them grow up the netting with the beans, and then popping the odd marigold in each raised bed where space permits. I'm no fan of the look of marigolds so if they are not going to be any use then I'll give my seedlings away. Thank you for any advice offered.
