Scrape a little bark off some twigs, quite low down. If they're green underneath, they're alive, if they're brown, they're dead but that doesn't necessarily mean the plant is dead. So wait and see.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

They are normally late-ish, a few of mine haven't showed any sign of life yet either & I'm in Berkshire.

  • I have a fucshia in my front garden, just looking at it now. It still looks twiggy but there are small leaves sprouting all over. I had the same conversation with my mrs a week ago. We always cut ours back to about 2 ft each year.

Assuming you're talking about a hardy one if it's outside, there's plenty of time yet! I have one of those 'climbing' ones that looks pretty dead but if I put my glasses on I can just about see some new shoots!!!

Most of mine look to be OK - but some are very much slower to show signs of life than others. A few (Chilli Red) for example always worry me at this time of year - and then, by the beginning of May, they're fine.
