Killing weeds
Am trying to rid garden of all weeds before someone is coming to lay a lawn for me. Its just non stop and there seems to be lots of low lying close to the ground that just seem to come back as soon as i move on to another bit. I have got a lot of dried out hedge branches from hedge removed last year. My question is if I laid these where most of the weeds are and set it on fire would this burn out all the weeds and would I then just be able to spread out the ash and mix it in with the soil? I cant use weed killer as i do not have enough time to wait before lawn is being laid. Hope someone can help me with this

You really only have three choices - dig out the weeds carefully getting all the roots, keep hoping the area every few days or use weedkiller. Weedkillerwill work in 3-4 days depending on weather and type of weed. Get the stuff that goes inactive on contact with the soil. Hoeing will really only work on annualweeds in the short time. Anything like dandelions and docks needs digging out or weedkiller.
Hoping should be hoeing!
