Help I think they have sent the wrong clematis

YviestevieYviestevie Posts: 7,066

I purchased Clematis Purpurea Plena Elegans from Waitrose and this is what arrived.

Unless I'm dreaming this is not the right clematis.  Before I complain can someone confirm that I'm not going Doolally.

That's  not Purpura plena elegans  - it looks like a C. alpina, possibly Francis Rivis (can't see the flower centre but it's that colour).

I love C. alpinas and have several......but I also love Purpurea plena elegans and I have that also.

you're not going doolally. That's either an alpina or a macropetala I think. Richard will know

Complain, attaching a photo and (with luck), you'll get to keep that and get what you asked for. image

Customer service is very good I've been told . I don't have never near me but friends tell me its second to none .I assume that's good.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, I'll complain, I knew it was wrong.  Bit of a pain really, as the new one might arrive whilst I am on holiday, I'll have to tell them to hang fire before they send it.

Waitrose Garden is part of Crocus.

Both offer excellent customer service and I'm sure you will have a good outcome. As Bob says you will probably be sent a new plant and be allowed to keep the wrong one. I'm also fairly certain you could ask them for a specific delivery date (free of charge) as it is their error and not yoursimage

What a scunner Yvie, although, as the others have said, you'll probably get to keep it.

Hope they get it right next time!
