Can anyone please advise on what I can do to rescue my tree please?

What should I feed it with? Which branches should we remove? We removed the dead fronds and the fruit from the tree last year. Could this of contributed to the tree dying off? When we inherited this tree last year it was surrounded by a high hedge with ivy running up the trunk. It was however in great shape and a lot healthier. We have disturbed the base and root system recently as we had a digger in to dig some trenches in preparation for walls being errected. We definitely want to make a feature of the tree at the front of the garden though. Many Thanks.
Hey, you can use some fertilizers.
