Making a pond in a container

I would like to make a small wildlife pond in a container in my garden. Any ideas?
What sort of container would be best?
Site it in sun or shade?
Any other advice or tips would be great.

Apparently, even a washing up bowl filled with rain water will attract wildlife. I would go for a sunny area and try to have some foliage adjacent so creatures can hide. A way in (and out!) using stones or similar is essential.
