Dying Rhododendron
Has anyone experience of the near proximity of dogwood (or broom) to rhododendron causing the latter to fade and eventually die?

No. I doubt there would be any connection or relationship between the ailing rhodo and the close proximity of anything except perhaps a conifer large enough to deprive it of water. Soil conditions are usually the only thing or disease

Are you gardening on acid soil?
Thanks for that. A friend who was a professional gardener said both dogwood and broom touching a rhododendron could cause the latter to die.
