Good evening, gardeners. Can anyone help me identify these two plants (well, one is just a shoot)? In the second picture I'm interested in knowing what the spotted one is. Thank you.

The first one could be a few things.  The second is pulmonaria by the look of it.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I agree with Bob ...the second one looks like a pulmonaria .

As for the first ................ show us another photo in a week or two's time. image

Thank you, BobTheGardener and Dovefromabove. Will wait with the first one. It's growing in several places, but it's unlikely to be something that I've planted.

I'm going to go with peony for the first one.

I think it's too small to be a peony, it's thinner than my little finger. And all the other peonies are well advanced. Also, do they self seed? ?

I agree with Ann for the first one image

I have a peony and I was looking at it tonight as it's shooting - it looks very similar to yours!

Doh PP - our posts crossed!

    Good luck with the ID.

Thank you. Will let it grow and see what happens. I've moved three of the peonies in this area, so I might have divided them unwillingly. Now where to plant them... ????

I don't think that's a paeony. You can more or less see the shape of the leaves and they're not right for paeony

Thank you, Nutcutlet. I'll post another picture once they get bigger.
