Late ranunculus
in Plants
I read somewhere that I could plant ranunculus tubers in late winter / early spring if the autumn planting window was missed, so I bought some, and then was too busy to plant them before today. They are currently soaking in a lunchbox on my draining board. Is this a pointless activity? Have I completely missed the 2nd sowing window?

always worth a try.
I'm waiting to see if some dried out amemones I was given last week will come to anything. They swelled up when I soaked them bit so does cardboard.
In the sticks near Peterborough
It will depend a bit on where you are I think. Up here , where I live it is still 'early spring', as I still have crocuses, the odd snowdrop and the daffs are only just starting. Down south they are already looking at what for me are practically 'summer' flowers.
Wherever you are it makes sense to plant them, though they may not flower on time, or at all. But, if they leaf up, they will store up food that may give you flowers next year.
Thanks for your input folks. I am in Wiltshire, it's pretty mild down here. I am hot gardening with a jumper or cardigan on. I will give them a go anyway, but maybe in just in pots so I can put them somewhere less conspicuous if they fail! Will try to remember to let you know how it goes...
