Do i cut back Salvia's?

Good morning,
I have a couple of Salvias in my garden, a couple look a little woody would you normally cut this back down?

Are they the shrubby ones or last year's stems of herbaceous plants?
In the sticks near Peterborough
I grow Salvia Hot Lips wich is an evergreen bushy type
I don't grow Hot Lip but I have other similar types. They get a hard cut back any time soon, when I consider winter is over. One is already done but only because it was in the way
