Weed ID

Any ideas?

Has taken over my mother's garden - it seems to grow in mainly shady spots and looks a bit like Creeping Charlie and seems to spread in the same way but the leaves are maybe different and it has a subtle yellow flower.

Looks like lesser celandine, I think

I agree with rasingirl's ID but like nutcutlet I have never heard of Creeping Charlie. image Lesser celandine disappears in the summer.

Ha, this has just popped up in my white bed (which is isolated from others).  I left it there thinking it was pretty but having read about it will tackle it forthwith.

    Thanks for the heads up.

  • Do you mean Creeping Jenny Overgrowth?  I have Creeping Jenny which spreads very well, it also has a small yellow flower but isn't anything like this lesser celandine.

  • Thanks all, and apologies - Yes, Creeping Charlie is Ground Ivy (Glechoma hederaceae). Guess we have all just called it that! (I'm based in northern UK)

Not that this beast looks much better!
