Mystery Tree

CarBluCarBlu Posts: 6

This tree has self seeded in my garden. It is one year old and is almost 6 feet tall. I haven't got a clue what it is. Can you help? The leaves are simple and opposite.

    Hi

    Salix caprea aka Goat Willow.

Not a good idea to let it establish close to a building or drains etc.

    Hi image

Re your PM.  about salix caprea having alternate leaves whereas yours has opposite leaves .... in my

opinion it's a salix - one of the types like salix caprea, known as pussy willows - they do hybridise so that may be why the leaves don't fit the descriptions in the books.

Whichever it is, my warning about buildings and drains applies.
