Bees and wasps

am I the only person who spends so much of the summer being stung by everything flying? I got stung just today by a bee and its red and sore, has anyone else ever been stung?

The most likely reason a bee is likely to sting is because somebody flaps their hands and arms at it.  Generally speaking, if you leave wasps and bees alone they'll do the same to you.

  • Wasps always sting me for no reason though but the bee today landed on my knee and when I bent down it stung me

I was  stung a couple of times last year. Once when I picked up an opened bag of compost - a queen wasp was hibernating in the rolled over top image

The second time was when I was picking a squash and a bee flew up my skirt imageimage

A bit painful for a while and a nuisance but nothing more than that, thank goodness.

  • Ive had a wasp in my clothes a few times myself, one tim I was nearly home when a hornet flew up my mini skirt and stung me again and again until it flew out and it had stung me 8 times on my legs, thighs and ass. It hurt so bad I cried I think I just remember running for the vinegar and pouring it on my thighs in the hope it would take the pain away. Hornet stings are worse than wasps

Interesting - hornets generally head for the light image

I'll bet that hurt tho' .......... but they're fascinating creatures and usually not at all aggressive - it must've felt trapped (as of course you did image).

  • Haha the thing is when it got me in the mini skirt I wasn't actually gardening, usually in the summer I wear short shorts for gardening, my knees and legs sometimes get stung and bitten
