Bottomless strawberry planter?

Hi,

I know it's just essentially a raised bed but is there an obvious reason why it's a bad idea to take a barrel and put holes in it for trailing strawberries and also a big hole in the bottom and put it onto a bed?

I'm really rubbish at watering but i don't really like strawberries at ground level.

Thanks

Can't see why it would be a problem at all lb. image

The only issue is that you're using up space in a bed that you could use for something else. You could always make a stand of some kind for it, or place it on top of an upturned pot of a similar size, and then put it in another part of your garden if you have a suitable spot image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
