Hello - can anyone tell me what this is?

    scratch and sniff, looks like rhubarb to me

    Rhubarb on the right hand side of the second photo - definitely.

    Not so sure about the pink stem in the centre of the first pic tho' ... image

    What's on the other side of the fence?

  • sorry yes, we've definitley got two rhubarb that have come back from last year....it's the standalone stem that I'm not sure about.

    The fence is our neighbours garden and I have heard that they had a Japanese knotweed problem a few years ago so am a little bit concerned. Although I would have though if it was knotweed, it would have appeared before now...?

    Possibly a rhubarb flower? You don't often see them so I can't recall what they look like when they are still just sprouting

    looks like knotweed as the leaf doesn't look as curly as rhubarb
