Hebe life span

centuricenturi Posts: 37

my large 5 year old Hebe seems to be dead!!

strange as we didn't get any frost this winter and I thought that maybe they don't live that long?

Not sure how long they live but it's a lot longer than 5 years if they're happy.

Can you post a photo, it would help give an idea. Scraping the bark might not give an accurate answer if the plant is newly dead.

Di the leaves go brown then drop off (or stay on) or did they drop off while still green?

I have one that's over 20 years old so it's much longer than 5 years but not sure how old.

Some of the large ones are also larger leaved, and they are often less robust than the smaller leaved varieties. Cold wet ground is more of an issue than cold on it's own.

A pic would help if you can manage it. Use the camera icon  in the top right hand corner  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
