When will this make an appearance?  Is it very hardy or easily killed?  I had three.

    Hi MayLane

It is a little early just yet. Yes, its hardy but gets attacked by Solomon Seal Sawfly which can complete strip it of its leaves in Summer so keep an eye out for the little perishers.

I'm beginning to think I have a 'special' place in my garden where Solomon's Seals go to die.image

Second time I've tried it there and absolutely no signs of life ATM. Mind you there are only a couple of Hosta buds in the same area - so maybe I should not give up all hope just yet.

Ooh, thanks for the reminder. I'd forgotten I'd got some of that. No sign yet, but not giving up hope!

I have a full bed of it under a magnolia tree that is now about 12 inches tall. Lovely plant and well worth the pain of having to continuously check it for aphids and other nasties who want to strip it bear.

i am on the south coast and most things seem to come through a bit earlier than the rest of the uk.
