Climbing plant suggestions please

I'm looking for climbing plant suggestions for pot/trough and trellis which I'm hoping will grow upwards to cover unsightly brickwork to the front of my house, (west-facing), any suggestions greatly appreciated.

And how wide and what supports do you have or are thinking about?

If it's to be self clinging that can be a hazard for certain wall finishes such as bricks that need re-pointing and you'll need to be vigilant about it getting under gutters and into roof spaces and even window frames.

If you're planning to support it on a system of trellis panels you'll need to erect these first using battens to make a gap between the panels and teh wall to allow air to circulate.  Another, more discreet option is a system of tensioned wires held by vine eyes screwed into teh walls to make a horizontal series of wires about 30cm/1' apart.

Roses and clematis are gross feeders so will need very large pots and regular feeding and watering to keep them healthy and looking good.    Lots of possibilities for a west facing wall..

Thank You for the interest and responses - this is the situation I have. A passionflower plant grows underneath the brickwork which I am hoping to camouflage if possible (from a small area under pebbles). The plant has been cut back unceremoniously for a new drive to be laid last year.

I would like to keep this if possible. Would this plant travel up if I placed battens as suggested? and how do I resurrect the plant at this stage? It has some support but this needs improving.

    Many Thanks
