I have a long border which is in part shade and clay soil. Over the last 2 seasons has become more moss then plants. Help

I have a long northfacing border under trees - I find that hoeing and mulching prevents moss from becoming a problem.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
