seeds

I've never used seed trays before as I couldn't get my head round no drainage! I've used on ethis year and it's on west facing sill in attic, 2 tiny 1mm heads of erigeron poked up but the rest seem to be just growing hairy mould! help!!

If they have no holes, they are designed to put inserts in,  They are seed trays, but you need to go one step more.

No, they are not meant to have holes in them.  They are designed to take inserts.  They can be placed on window sills, for example, and the water will not run through.

My gravel trays are deeper than seed trays as well has being more robust and having no drainage holes.

What a shame. I'd make holes in them too, but if you have a metal skewer that you can heat up (candle flame will do) that's less likely to split the plastic, especially if it's a bit flimsy.

You'll need to get more trays to use underneath them, for the excess water to drain into   image

Sorry, Phillipa has misunderstood too.  The inserts come the same size as the trays. They cater for  how many plants you want to a tray.  The inserts are usually made of thin plastic and definitely have drainage holes.

they were a whole £1.99 for 6, I just cut a few holes in the bottom with a sharp knife, hopefully some seedlings will live...
