What is this?!

i cleared an area under a tree last year (new house) and lots of these shoots are appearing. I think its a shrub. I appreciate the pictures are of not a great deal but what is it please? imageimage

    Yes, I think it's a piece of lilac, probably a sucker from an old rootstock.

    Lilac smell and early May colour is delightful, give it a chance to shine.
