Salvia horminum (Clary sage)
I grew these last year, from a shop bought packet. A lovely mix of pink, white and purple.
I collected and saved the seeds in separate envelopes, one for each colour.
My question is, will they grow true to the parent plant?
I've tried to google the answer and become a bit confused to be honest .
I'm hoping to grow them in strong blocks of a single colour this year, particularly the purple one.
I have lots of healthy seedlings sprouting from last weeks sowing ????????. Can I expect a single colour in each batch, or will they be a random mix again?

Thanks for your reply Verdun. I'm a prolific seed purchaser already
. New to using saved seed and fancied a bit of an experiment.
Like Magnus Magnusson, "I've started, so I'll finish"
The sprouts are up, so I'll wait and see what I get. I might just be pleasantly surprised. And that's half the fun of seed sowing
Will be keeping an look out for a named variety that catches my eye as I like this little plant
I turned one of my veg patches into a bed last year and covered it with those, didn't mind the colours, it looked nice all mixed.
Sounds lovely Lyn
. I found them really easy to grow, and great for lots of long lasting colour in the garden.
So true, and the bees love them. I got the idea from here, its a garden to visit just a stones throw from me.

UPDATE: They've come up true to the colour of the parent plant
Apart from the odd one or two (which could be down to clumsy sowing), the small patches of 5/6 plants are the same colour.
Not as impressive as Lyn's photo, which is fabulous, here's some snaps from my tiny plot......
Purple
Pink
And white (with a stray purple one)
I've more clumps dotted around the garden. I'm happy that my experiment worked, and feel more confident for bolder planting next year
.
Excellant, well done you!
I keep meaning to start collecting my own seeds, but they just seem to rot on the plants
Love the pics of your neighbours plot
