Replacing lavender

One of my lavender plants has died, can I plant a new one in the same place. I know you cannot do that with roses so does this apply to lavenders?

It's fine.  Just improve the soil with a bit of compost and maybe some grit to aid drainage and then plant and water in the usual way.

I had to do this after a very cold wet winter wiped out 5 of my lavender hedge plants and it worked fine.
