Dead streptocarpus

Having spent a fair bit treating myself to my "wish list" of streptocarpus, most have died. I potted them up in multi purpose with a high peat content, stood the pots on gravel and watered the trays when the pots dried to the touch.
All flowered but rapidly declined, on tipping out, there was no root growth.
Any ideas? Cuttings I took are thriving, sadly not all plants were large enough to take leaf cuttings.

Have you checked for Vine Weevil ? I lost some due to these horrible beasties
I grow streps, love them they flower there socks off.
Not easy to keep though, I only water mine when the leaves are really realy drooping then I always water with warm water I will boil a kettle and add the hot water to the cold in the can . When I say warm water I mean just off hot not just tepid. I also wouldn't keep them on gravel mine are straight on slatted staging so when watering they drain straight through.
I keep mine in the greenhouse all year on the staging which is underneath the top staging, they donot like bright sunlight some shading is good.
If you can when taking cuttings take from the youngest leaves in the middle of the plant.
My streps are just growing their flower stems now so I will try and upload some pictures later on.
This is Gloria - the only one actually in flower at the moment.
Amy my streps flower most of the year although most flower stems are on in the summer/autumn.
thease are a couple of plants I put in a local show.
I feed my streps with tomato food through the growing season, not yet.
the bugs you can see on the first plant are just greenfly, carefully squash them be careful not to bruise the plant stem or spray with bug spray. If you spray it sometimes markers the leaves.
I also treat for vine weevil has a matter of course twice a year I don't wait until I think they have got them.
Thank you - glad to know it wasn't just me!
I shall try your tips - I use Tomorite - having spent a fortune on Dibleys' tablets.
Amy I use Provado vine weevil killer, it has to be mixed with water and it looks like thick milk.
the bugs I get on mine are usually greenfly and I'm afraid I do resort to spraying With a bug spray.
Amy I forgot to say when you have mixed up the vine weevil killer you use it as a soil drench, do not poor it over the leaves.
