Crab Apple Tree for Shropshire.

Can anyone advise me of a good variety Crab Apple we want one to compliment our fruit trees here in Shropshire. We already have several different fruit trees including Bramley, Golden Delicious, Victoria Plum, Pears etc.  Want something reasonable size growing for benefits to wildlife.

I like the traditional Malus 'John Downie' for its attractive and well-sized fruit for jellies etc, and its attractive white blossom.

Golden Hornet is another very good crab, with smaller yellow fruit which tend to stay on the tree for a long while in the winter, providing food for birds in the harder months of December/January.

I like Red Sentinel. It has bright red fruit that remain on the tree, often until the new year, providing winter food for the various thrushes.

Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
