Foxgloves big enough to flower?
Hi guys,
I sowed some foxglove seeds last Autumn And I pricked them out into 9cm pots. They have grown bigger now but judging from their size on the picture, will they be big enough to flower this year if I plant them in the ground now? Or shall I save them for next year?
thanks

I had some big plugs which I grew on to that size. I planted most of them out and some of them did flower that year. Mine were much later getting to that size, so I'd think you'd get some flowers this year. I expect variety might have an influence too.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
If you mean save them in pots I think you'd have to do a lot of potting on. I had a selection like that this time last year. I planted them all out, lots flowered, a few are going to flower this year
In the sticks near Peterborough
Yea I thought the same thing about potting on. 8 don't want tons of foxgloves laying around in pots. So I'm going to put them in the ground and if some don't flower then at least they will next year
As they are biennial and self-seed, it may actually be better if some flower next year instead. Then in years to come you'll have some flowering and some growing on each year, rather than a display one year and then just the leaves the next
