Two Foot Soil Depth

Following on from my raised bed question,  Will two foot deep worth of soil be ok for large shrubs such as Lilia if the roots can laterally spread?

Why oh why did we choose a new build! I'm stuck. I guess it will be raised beds. We have heavy clay,  surrounded by wall foundations at two feet deep on two sides with a horrible combination of wall topped with fence of about 10 -12 feet that needs covering and a slope which we have had a patio cut into. The raise beds will be another level.

Not agaisnt the walls I want to hide. If I bought the beds out I'd lose the lawn for my daughter. I wanted lush!  My old garden was lush.

I think the height of the boundaries can take raised beds and I guess it will give height to the plants I just need to dig them all up.

We already had them back to install land drains.
