Turning old wendy house into a greenhouse

Hi just after some opinions.

Am pretty new to gardening and have gotten a bit carried away with my seed sowing and running out of windowsills. I have a relatively small back garden, mainly flagged with borders. (Most plants for large empty space out the front) The sunniest spot seems to be right at the back with an unused wendy house on it wasting precious space.

Money is tight so buying a new greenhouse is out of the question and all the second hand ones ive seen are too big for the space. I also want something that looks quite pretty as will be on view from the house

Am I crazy (as my husband insists) for attempting to cut the top off the wendy house and raise it with a simple homemade frame and cover it in 4mm twinwall polycarbonate? Its only very small, maybe 4ftx4ft.

I am planning on using the bottom on the wendy house with the wood panelling going halfway/ 3 quarters up then the other half the poly and the roof poly too. Then prettying up the edges with a wooden trim.

Any advice or experiences more than welcome!

Thanks

Sarah

Just incase anyone else decides to give this ago,  I have never built anything more complicated than a flat pack and I managed it on my own!

Wow! Well done and good for you! image I'm on a budget myself and upcycle most things from pallets and bits I find...hence the womble name! I would like to build my own greenhouse too and the amazing greenhouse in the photos simply inspired me. I will start mine soon and I hope to gain success from it. Also, the budget I have for it is quite low but I will try to find cheap and quality materials.

Thanks Verno glad you like it, cost about £70 in total including the polycarbonate but could have been alot less if I had of shopped around a bit instead of heading to b&q

Wow that is great, how clever of you. You really will be soooo chuffed with yourself when you watch your plants grow and harvest your first crops, it is like one of george clarkes amazing spaces! ?
