pyrocanthus leaf pest
I have an unknown pest attacking my pyrocanthus - have looked online and in books to no avail.
Some of the leaves have a wafer-thin papery covering and there are tiny grubs on them. Does anyone know what this pest is and what i need to do to treat it?

Looks like significant leaf miner damage. It's not supposed to harm the plant - just looks unsightly. I stripped my aster of said leaves and removed top few inches of compost, did the trick. More difficult with a shrub I would imagine.

Thanks Mark - you are right, have looked it up now and it all fits. Good to know that is shouldn't harm the plant too much, (unlike the thrips which attacked my viburnum and are chewing their way round some other shrubs).
