Honeysuckles
I have two potted honeysuckles on a west facing wall. They seem to be alive and the leaves are just coming out now but they didn't flower last year. Also, one of them in particular is mostly growing at the top and not much at the bottom. When should I prune them and how can I encourage more growth lower down in the top heavy one? any other tips to make them look a bit more presentable?
Thanks!

Thanks both! They weren't potted by me so I'm not sure what's in there. I have some john innes 2 and 3.... would 3 be best to repot in?

Nice idea of verduns janer2, taylors clematis have a superb collection of clematis, you can choose, colour, size, aspect, evergreen or not, lots to choose from....
I will check out their site, thanks!
Ok, thanks.
Any particular recommendations for where to look at buying half barrels from? There seem to be hundreds of online retailers...
Will have a look! Thanks.
If you want the honeysuckles to thrive (and they really aren't suited to pots) consider building something permament instead for them, in the form of raised beds, janer. Big pots are expensive, and a decent sized raised bed will give you a lot more scope. They aren't difficult to do, and fencing timber is pretty cheap.
Easier to get the right conditions for them. As Verdun says, you need a soil based compost and plenty of moisture for them. Against a wall is also less suitable as they will tend to be sheltered from any rain, so you need to be quite vigilant in that respect.
