Bamboo and pot shape

We have some large bamboo in large circular pots.
I wish to move them into large troughs to go against our house wall.
How do I do that without hurting them? They have grown into a circular base and will need pulling apart to fit the rectangular trough.

Maylane, bamboo appear to be fairly tolerant plants in my experience. They can ransack and take over so I keep mine in a pot also....in fact its just got so big I have repotted it in an old leaky waterbutt to contain it!
My bamboo got hacked from a lady's garden that wanted rid of it, put it on the roofrack of the van and stuck it in a pot. It got established immediately with no diva like demands
Do you have to control it doghouse?
We have a black one, golden one and a thick leaved green one that.
