Agapanthus storage
At the end of the season last year I stored my large pots of agapanthus in my garden shed, to protect against frost. I have just taken them out and find that, along with several new young shoots, they still have long green healthy looking leaves. My problem is, do I cut these down to the base to allow the new shoots to come through or do I leave well alone ?
Cheers

If the foliage died down, they're deciduous varieties and they don't need frost protection. I'd gradually acclimatise them to outdoor life.
If they kept their leaves, they're evergreen and might benefit from a while longer in there , depending on your location. In milder areas, standing them against a south facing wall, hedge or fence is normally enough.
Hostafan1 - Thanks so much for your prompt reply ! I don't have any actual garden space - just a walled courtyard. I have moved the plants from the garden shed into a brick walled outhouse attached to the house. Its not heated but warmer than the shed !! I will keep a careful eye on them. I didn't know there was such a thing as an evergreen agapanthus ! I might well have killed them by chopping off their heads !! Just shows, you're never too old to learn !! Many, many thanks
