What's going on with this lovely plant? :(

Can someone explain what is going on with this plant..? Leaves started turning yellow on their tips, and one leaf has completely turned into such an unhealthy colour. I put it next to my window to ensure sufficient sunlight and watered a good amount of water over the past few days, but there's no sight of getting better.
Does someone know what is going on??
Also could someone identify in what environment this plant was supposed to grow? I cant identify what sort of plant this is so I can't just search how to take care of it...

it looks like one of the hardy palms, perhaps trachycarpus? I think it might need to be outside.
See what others think.

I can't help you with the name of the plant but if it is a hardy palm then it needs to be outside. I think the reason for the brown leaves is that it doesn't like the drier indoor enviroment, I might be wrong though
