Raised bed under Rhododendron

in Fruit & veg
Recently moved into my first house and my oh my theres alot of work needing done!
Its a semi detached house, the garden to the back of the house is to the left of the house, there is 2 well established Rhododendron bushes along the side of the fence.
I would like to keep them but at the same time this space is looking to be the only place i can have my raised bed, Could I make a raised bed under the Rhododendrons?
Would the Rhodedendrons kill whatever i plant in the raised bed? part of the raised bed will be for some veggies hopefully, the side brances have been cut back to allow light under the rhodedendrons.
The sparrows and birds love the Rhododendrons and the flowers are very pretty so hoping to be able to do both.
Thanks

Thanks Verdun, I didn't know that Rhodies don't like their roots covered,So having a raised bed at the base of them i don't think would work as the raised bed would have to be made around them as they are very big and established. I will have to re think my idea, maybe have a bed before and after the rhodies ot something like that
The one i have has lovely purple flowers, so when i look out my stairs window i see beautiful colour instead of next doors house
I've had a look at the Hadspen Cream, It is lovely! is it an agressive grower? or would it be easy to keep it to itself, as i'm not wanting anything that spreads, don't mind giving something the odd trim back here as everything eventually spreads lol
Thanks for the info with Hadspen Cream, I'll look into it, Yea probs be looking at too deep a bed for it really...tho just seen an idea that might work of a raised bed that had different heights, so could maybe try this idea (tho it would be in a straight line not a corner) and have the lower points where the rhodies are
