Strange patch on lawn

Anyone any idea what this is on my lawn.
It appears in patches over night, and disappears during the day, leaving a discoloured dark patch. It's not always in the same place.
The lawn was laid last September.
Any assistance welcome !

Look up 'snow mould'. Fungal disease.

Thanks ... just looked at snow mould, its not that.
And we've had no snow.

Just found it - slime mould. Google 'slime mould on grass' and you'll see a picture or two of the blackened patches, too
