An increase of 'flat' snails
Here in North London I've seen an increase in a variety of snail. They're quite small (6-8mm) and have flat shells, unlike the usual round type. Their numbers seem to be increasing and, even in this cold weather, they're still moving around. Whether or not they cause as much damage as slugs I cannot say, but at least they don't grow to a large size.
Anyone else spotted them?

Rounded Snail (Discus rotundatus)? http://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/rounded-snail
"Detritus and fungus feeder" - on this basis it should be fairly harmless to plants.
Yes, they're the ones. I've never actually seen them damaging any plants, but all snails (and) slugs get tarred with the same brush. Thanks for your response.
