Escallonia and the Wind
We live very close to the coast in Cornwall and of course the wind is a constant problem regarding plant choice. I know that Escallonias are supposed to be wind-tolerant but has anyone any experience of growing these shrubs over the long term. In other words will they eventually shrivel up and die after a few years of nearly constant battering?

I remember it as a child, growing wild along the sand dunes at Clymping near Littlehampton. Haven't been there for many, many years now, but there is a bush growing not far from me, here in the windy Pennines, so I would say it is fairly tough and adaptable.
