You can grow them as houseplants for a few years until they get too big and can then either cut them back and hope for new growth or start off new ones.  As others have said, they have no chance of survival outside in the UK.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

You can practically grow mango from a bone at home, but the tree will not bloom and bear fruit like in a tropical environment.
This is a very moisture-loving plant, in addition to the warm climate for the plant, appropriate drainage of the soil is needed.
Mango starts to bear fruit to 10 years of flowering, so think about whether there is any meaning at all.

  • Hi all,

I have just potted my 3 mango seeds, I am currently building a outdoor room for my mango to live in during the winter months. It should stay around 25 to 30 degrees in there.

You can get the mango free  to fruit after 4 years. They just need to be about 8 felt tall.

I am just starting to germinate 4 more seeds.

    Will keep everyone up todate.

  • First time grower here. Had a couple store bought mangos that I saved the seeds after eatin, out of the bunch only 2 ended up growing a shoot (not sure correct spelling), and one of which lost a fight with my puppy lol. Anyways, the lone survivor is now 6-7 inches and has 3 healthy looking leaves ( or at least look healthy to me). I recently just switched it from a small single hole clay pot to a plastic, multi holed pot for better drainage. I have it indoor in my sun room with your typical potting soil. that all being said, I have many questi and want to hear everyone's different opinions and techniques they use to grow your mangos. Please remember this is my first time growing any type of plant, so I'm not really caught up on gardening terminology lol.

    quick facts,

** I put the seed in a ziplock with wet paper towel on August 2, 2017. Posting this on September 2, 2017.

** I live directly on a lake in East Tennesse, but have it indoor. Average summer climate is humid, sunny, average rainfall. Average winter climate is very cold, snowy, heavy ice, 50/50 sun cloudy coverage.

    my question;

    1) what does a healthy newly sprouted tree look like?

    2) what is your watering/feeding schedule look like and when do you beg feeding it fertilize, if any at all?

    3) what is pinching, is it recommended or necessar?

    4) when should I switch to bigger pot, what kind? clay or plastic? When should I move it outdoor?

    5) what questions am I forgetting to ask? Lol

thanks for The help! image image image image image image
