I have raised beds in allotment. Quite deep. Fought with weeds last year. So this year planning to line them ...... however. The soil is really good Shame to lose the depth?? Not sure What to do now ! Help

What are the weeds you're having a problem with?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I don't understand the query either. Lining raised beds doesn't alter the level of the soil or prevent weeds.
Do you mean using a weed barrier on top of the soil, Potwoman?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Sorry for confusion. I have couch grass from the edging paths which creeps under the sides of the beds Another plot holder advised me to put weed suppressant over the base of the bed
