when do I wake up my dahlias

I lifted my dahlias in the autumn and dried and cleaned them . I have checked to see if they are healthy regularly in their pots with dry compost on them. I keep them in the dark garage. What and when do I do now?

I wait until they "wake up" of their own accord.
Others water lightly to "wake" them, but I let them do their own thing and pot them up as they start to grow otherwise I have too many to do at once.
