What is wrong with my new Lawn

Hi, I wonder if anyone could give me some advice please.I had a new lawn laid last September,I looked after it religiously, watering it every day until it had taken. It now looks like some of it is dead, & is sparse in places. Will it pick up once the weather warms up, I'm so disappointed with the way it looks at the moment.Any advice about what to do with it would be gratefully received , thank you in advance.image

Looks great compared to mine Elizabeth!

It's normal for lawns to look a bit rough by this time of year. Unless there's an underlying issue with drainage or the soil it's laid on, I wouldn't be too worried. A bit of food and some tlc when the weather warms up, and it'll probably be fine.

Mine certainly looks much better by about May after some spring attention  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I agree with Fairgirl, give it a good feed in spring when it starts to show signs of growing. If there are area's where the lawn has gone sparse, then use a holow tine fork  or even a normal garden fork to create holes in the lawn to aerate the soil so air and water can get through to the roots a lot easier. It should bounce back in the summer

  • Thank you so much Fairygirl & greenfingers steve, that's really put my mind at rest. Will do what you say & hopefully it will recover.

Looks like red thread / pink patch although this would normally be associated with humid summer conditions. In saying that we have had a very mild winter. Could also be some damage caused by leatherjacket / chafer grubs
