@Anna33 there's probably not much you can do at this time of night. Is it still just sitting there ? Do you have a local rescue nearby?
If he or she is out during daylight hours and lethargic then there is something wrong.
If you are really concerned (& l would be), you can find information and emergency numbers here
    https://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/found-a-hedgehog/
I will stay on here until around 11.15 pm if you need any help.

Just been to check on it, it's moving around happily and had some more water and biscuits.

I'll keep an eye on it, as I don't like them having ticks (maybe 7 or 8 that I can see) but thank you so much for the links - I've bookmarked them! I feel so privileged to have a hedgehog, that I want to do as much as I can!

No problem @Anna33, glad to hear it. Hopefully there won't be any sign of it in the morning 🤞
    Good night  :)

It looks similarly sized to my one @timmy77 .
I think it looks so funny when after being still for a while they suddenly raise up on little skinny legs and take off like a rocket! So cute.

And yes they do seem to stop for a rest @Anna33 while out feeding at night, I have seen mine do it quite often. So hope everything goes ok.

Hi, son and I have been working in the garden today and decided to have a peak and see if the hedgehogs were still in their nest or had gone. They are still there and are getting big son recons they are at least 5 plus inches so will soon be ready to leave the nest. We have seen the babies out on their own. We are wondering how we will know that they have gone as we want to plant a tree there which we have kept in a pot for now but don't want to keep on disturbing them. I bought a big pot saucers and added pebbles gave everything a good wash then added the water which they seem to like to get into to have a drink.

    So... Hedgehog update.

Had some lovely people from a charity called HK Hedgehogs (based in the Hangleton area of Brighton) come round and de-tick the hedgehog. He had 14 large ones and 4 small ones on him! Poor thing. But they were happy he was healthy and bright, and had no other concerns. He's a juvenile, from this year's litter, they reckon.

He's now back in the garden munching on the biscuits I've put out for him.

So pleased to have been able to do something positive!
  • Well done @Anna33 you will have help to make that little hog much more comfortable and perhaps prolonged his life. Well done to the rescue people who gave their time to this dear little hog and hopefully he will go on to produce some little hoglets in time.

    Hello @Anna33 :)
What a beauty he is  <3 ! I was wondering if he was alright and am so pleased that you were able to get him checked out, these rescue people are brilliant with the work they do.
