How high does this plant grow, can I clip or prune to keep low to the ground?

They stay quite low growing GD - about a foot or maybe two. I don't find they get big in any way, but that might be down to my climate and conditions here.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
They're either very variable or some have got the wrong label. I have one that stays low to the ground and one that is pushing up gradually to make a taller plant (not very tall but taller)

I think it will be too tall for the position, I want something that will creep low, at ground level. I already have Creeping Jenny and Perriwinkle, and was looking for something else that would be evergreen. I have some lovely dianthus that I have grown from seed too. The position is close to a wall and spreading towards the pond, and will be WELL watered with the new irrigation system.
Do you already have Ajuga, GD?
Not that I know of Joyce, what is it? I don't recognize the name.
Now I have looked at it, and I think I have seen it before, but wouldn't have known the name. Do you have it growing in your garden?

Bugle is a common name for it GD. Very useful for ground cover and will take sun if it's moist enough - which it should be there
There's a good few varieties, but they have little spikes of blue flowers and most have dark purpley foliage

Yes, I have it in two areas.....the purple leaf one Easily controlled.
I think we actually have a small snippet of it growing at the side of our very small pond, I don't remember planting it, perhaps a bird dropped the seed. So it does thrive in cooler climates too Joyce? Would the plant actually grow in a pond - in a few inches of water?
GD, it's totally hardy here. Sorry, but I have no idea re it growing in water,,,,,,someone will know!!!
I have dammeri growing here and it's so low you can walk on it.
Forgive the weeds growing through it.
