Ideas for Shrubs in Front Garden
Hello,
I'm looking for some guidance on shrubs to plant in my front garden. I would like them to be evergreen and fairly fast growing. The soil type seems to be clay and the position is west facing, directly behind my front wall which is about 3ft high so there is some shelter and it would get the sun for most of the day. I already have a small holly growing and ideally would like at least 2 other shrubs which would could grow to at least 4ft, don't require a lot of attention and are hardy enough to survive in cold temperatures. I don't mind if it flowers or not.
I have been looking at planting a Spotted Laurel which as far as I can tell seems to fit the criteria and grows fairly quickly.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Agree with Tetley re Choisya Skimmia varieies are evergreen, flowering and some have berries. Easily pruned and hardy.
Should be varieties.
Choisya, daphne for winter interest, hypericum for summer flowers
Bay does well in my south facing clay. You can prune it to whatever shape you like and pop out for a few leaves to put in the stew. It's pretty much disease resistant too.
Thank you for the replies. I will have a look at all of the options everyone has mentioned.
Thanks Tetley, that's something I had read earlier today. When I was looking at Laurels there was one for £70 which was already about 2.5 to 3ft high and I have to admit I was tempted to buy it.
